We are busy, busy, busy !

Well guys what can I say only I’m exhausted from it all !!. This week has been crazy, I haven’t been out of bed this long in so many years πŸ™‚ !!! I’m exhausted the pain point is beyond funny ;( but at the same time my excitement is growing as are the nerves, (what if we land on our faces, OK, I know mines in a state anyway!!!) But then I think feck it, go with your gut feeling and that gut feeling is telling me to keep going and this is what has been dragging me out of my bed and into my Wheelchair now for the last while.
I do get knocked out (<I said out not up πŸ™‚ with pain pretty fast from the pulling and dragging but it has to be done ;(…

So the ground work is almost finished we were just waiting for the Log Cabin to go up so we can finish off around that area with the beautiful Ballyheigue stone. Now we are waiting on the carpenter to put in the new decking, which will hold up any progress until it is finished. Why it was not possible to do at the same time I'll never know. I think it's a man thing !!!

The Log Cabin the new home of the Shabby Shik Emporium arrived on Friday and I take my hat off to those guys at O'Briens Summer homes in Galway, they worked flat out in the pouring rain over the weekend, there are still some pieces of work left to do inside but that won't take to long to sort, "says she who can't hammer in a nail" !!! πŸ™‚

Anyways let's be telling you, some beautiful ceramic pieces arrived today I was like a child at Christmas opening the box's to marvel over each piece. Some lovely Royal Doulton pieces along with some beautiful Chinese Maling Vase's and some really lovely Iron stone pieces that I know you are just going to love. We just can't wait to put it all together so we can capture a picture of the displays for you. That is of course if I ever get over the exhaustion and get out of my bed after today πŸ™‚

I am taking a little time out this week. My two lovely daughters have gigs going on. My eldest daughter is a third year art student and they are holding their first collective exhibition in Limerick this week as part of Limerick City of Culture. She has worked tirelessly and I can't wait to see the results of all her hard work.
Then our Youngest lady who is a music student has another and final music performance gig in Galway this week. At this gig she must perform a song that she has not only written all the music for, but the lyrics also. We are excited to hear the fruits of her hard labour.
As a mother I just couldn't be more proud of these two beautiful young women they really are an amazing pair. πŸ™‚
But they will have to get a move on and get down to Kerry as there is lots more hard work for them over the next few weeks πŸ˜‰

Ok I 'll leave you with a few pic's of the Shabby Shik Emporium log cabin.
And a few pic's of some of our Ceramic's that arrived this week. And if you are in and around the North Kerry area or you see some think you like please do give us a call or call in and see us for a chat and a cuppa we might even have cake πŸ™‚ we'd love to see you…

Ok it's time to get some shut eye if that's possible for me and I'll keep you posted on the progress of my latest madness πŸ™‚ over the coming days.
Cheerio for now it's off to sleep I go…

Here we are again Welcome to my world

Well today Tuesday low and be hold our first big delivery arrived by the lovely gentleman that is Pat Molony and his son Sam. They helped us unload it all into the kitchen, I’m thinking dinners will have to sit in our lap for a while!
Me trying to get around in the house in the wheelchair is a bit of a disaster but I guess there are worse things. πŸ™‚ So a big thank you Pat and Sam we are really very pleased with these pieces and we know everyone is going to just love them. These are the pieces that I would just love to keep for myself πŸ™‚ but we are sure you’ ll all just love to take them home too. So please do pop in to see them as soon as the Log Cabin the home of the Shabby Shik Emporium opens it’s doors πŸ™‚ or you are more then welcome to email us to arrange a viewing now if you so wish.

It’s Thursday and this is going to be fun πŸ™‚
I’m not sure how we’ll manage it !!! Yesterday work started on the ground work outside making ready for the Log cabin arrival.
Now we are waiting for a 18 wheeler transport Truck to arrive with all the beautiful pieces we found.
Ok here we go,,, our babies have landed in Kerry, and will be here with the load at any minute I’m so excited and there is anxiety setting in too.
Because right now there is a dumper a a tractor and trailer and a JCB along with 20 tonnes of lose stone in the drive so this is what is giving my hiatus a run for its money.

Now as we wait for the truck to arrive in my state of anxiety I noticed as the men work a problem with the stone Chipping’s. ! ;( We ordered brown stone and we seemed to have got purple, I wonder if the guy sending the stone was registered as colour blind as I thought that might explain how he got it so wrong and also wondered if telling time was difficult for him ! how does 12noon turn in to 4:30pm as I keep saying only in Ireland πŸ™‚

Now the anxiety is growing, the house is busting at the gut, where we are going to fit this load I have no idea! As it is we could eat dinner from any century table in my Kitchen πŸ™‚ And that’s not boasting! no that’s just maniac frustration at not being able to physically move the furniture the way I want and a way that makes more sense. Well more sense to me I should say πŸ™‚ !!!

Ok so we managed, and at least we got 90% of the pieces in to the house. And we managed to get a few larger pieces into the work shed. Our delivery man is a real treasure so professional at every stage of today’s collections he texted or rang me to keep me informed of the pick up and if there were any problems.
I am extremely impressed and I couldn’t recommend him highly enough, so Thank you Mick you did an amazing job today. πŸ™‚ and I looking forward to working with you in the future. I have to say too the two pieces we got from Amanda’s Upcycled are just beautifully done. And I’m sure they won’t be around to long before they are snapped up so keep a look out for her pieces I’ll post some pic’s soon

Today Friday and the work on the drive is still on the go it was realised yesterday that there was no way we would have enough Chipping’s so it was back on the phone to order another lorry load. So all going well we should be finished this evening.

So the arrival of the Log Cabin is set for Tuesday I’m just hoping it is this Tuesday coming, I can’t wait to get started but (Yes there’s always a but:-) the carpenter that is to build the decking says he would prefer to wait until the Cabin is in before he works out what needs doing.
Great I say !!! that means he has to come and measure then go and cost it before coming back with a price and that’s all before I see a nail and a plank, it is all so fecking frustrating.
I am at a lose for words as to the building trade in this country, if I hear again that there is no work to be got in this country I just might take a swing at someone πŸ™‚

May I wish you a very Happy restful and peaceful Easter πŸ™‚ have a good one and I’ll catch up with you again in a few day…

I leave you this week with photo’s of the some of the pieces delivered along with a copy of our business card and some of the work going on outside…

Well Things Are A Moving

Well ladies and gents the wheels are well oiled and a moving. The Shabby Shik Emporium log cabin has had a slight delay, the builders forgot to factor in Holy Week. Which will now mean somewhere in the mid week after, that is of course once their hangovers have a bated before we see them and the log Cabin arrive πŸ™‚

We have been very busy trying to sort the ground work trying to get a job priced here is like trying to draw blood from a turnip! oh it’s no bother they can do the job, ask how much and you are met with ‘Oh it’s hard to say’ which in Irish terms means it will cost the earth. πŸ™‚

But we have picked up some more wonderful pieces this week, so the stock is coming together. Our wonderful Jewellery designer Carol Shaw is going to come up with some very unique pieces for us which we can’t wait to see. We have another lovely lady who will be designing some really great everyday wear for the younger set. It’s really funky the stuff I know you’ll all just love πŸ™‚

We have also found the most amazing lady that does wonders to revamp and up-cycle’s some beautiful vintage pieces. Amanda has a really unique style and her pieces will add the wow factor in any room I can’t wait for you to see.

We am very lucky to have two very artistic daughters on our team that will add their touch. Sourcing some vintage evening wear, and accessorises bags, belts etc,,,

So as you can see we’ve had a busy week so I think it’s time for a nap but I’ll leave you with a taste of some of our finds. If anything takes your eye be sure and let me know.
You can email us at the Shabbyshikemporium@gmail.com

Ok friends we’ll catch up soon

The start of our new journey begins

Well we said our goodbye to the France cottage.
It was hard to empty what was once my special retreat a little piece of heaven.
All my beloved pieces of furniture packaged to capacity. We arrived at the ferry looking a bit like Wonderly Wagon we received a few stares and smirks from the truckers when we were retrieving my wheelchair from the back of the wagon πŸ™‚

So now our new adventure awaits and while everything is in motion my mind is swinging back and forth with two little me’s one saying “you are barking mad” and the other saying “this is so exciting I can’t wait” πŸ™‚

So right now i’m at the, this is so exciting place and can’t wait. The log cabin is ordered and is going in in the next ten days or so.
And I have picked up some amazing pieces of furniture some antique, vintage and up-cycled and some really lovely glass and china wear and we are also hoping to have some one off pieces from a Jewellery designer in Dublin. She designs specially for brides, bridesmaids, flower girls and of course mother of the bride. So colours can be made to match colour and suit any outfit colour.

We have some lovely French pieces old enamel jugs and bins, pictures and old prints. I just can’t wait to get started I’m sure the people in Kerry will think I’m off my trolley.
But we are going to give our own Shabby Shik Emporium our very best shot. Along with the Cabin we will have a website and of course a Facebook page so be sure to look out for us.

Now it’s a case of trying to juggle where to put all this furniture until the Log Cabin is in and ready to move into it’s gonna be fun or then again maybe not! but we’ll just have to live with it won’t we πŸ™‚

Then there is my other piece of news and I am really so excited as I have been in love with these babies for so long I did have one for a year or two a while back but sadly we had to say good bye. But now I’m getting it’s slightly bigger brother well I hope I am it is to arrive tomorrow. But I promise to tell you all about that next time. Bye for now… J xxxx
